Hi Outsiders!
Today we fly overseas again, this time to Thailand, to meet two talented actresses who made us fall in love with their story.
One is a young artist who began her journey in the music industry, gaining experience as a member of a popular girl group before exploring new opportunities as a solo singer and actress. The other has already captured the attention of audiences with her performances on screen, bringing her own personality and charm to every project she takes part in.
Two different journeys, two unique personalities, but a common passion for acting that has brought them together in a very special project. Their chemistry is one of the elements that makes their latest series so interesting, giving us a story that combines romance, comedy and a touch of science fiction, while reminding us that feelings can be unpredictable and that love can arrive in the most unexpected ways.
In just a few days, they will embark on a new journey together, one that brings them to Paris, where one of them first began her journey as a French-Thai artist. Their participation in The A Festival marks a meaningful return to her roots and the beginning of an exciting new chapter together.
With us... MYYU and CHANYA!
As always, let's give them a warm welcome and begin!
Let's start by talking about Ai Girl. Was there a scene that, after reading the script for the first time, you were particularly curious or excited to film together? And, on the other hand, was there a scene that, when you finally came to shoot it, immediately made you realize the complexity of what you were about to portray?
MYYU: When I first read the script, I was really excited about the scenes where Gen and Ai’s relationship started to shift from chaos into real feelings, because I wanted to see what our chemistry would be like. But once we actually filmed the more emotional scenes, I realized that Gen’s feelings were much more complicated than they seemed. Sometimes she had to feel love, anger, fear, and sadness all at the same time, while still trying to hold everything in.
The series is a very unique story, bringing together science fiction, romance, and a deeply human dimension. What was the biggest challenge in making the relationship between Gen and Ai feel authentic and emotionally believable?
MYYU: For me, the hardest part was making the relationship grow naturally. Gen had to start developing feelings for something that, at first, didn’t respond the way a normal human would. So I had to believe in every stage of their relationship—from suspicion and distrust to attachment. If we gradually believe in it along with the characters, I think the audience will believe in it too.
Chanya, being a Thai-French artist means carrying with you two distinct cultural sensibilities, which can also come together in the way you approach and embody a character. How much do you think the differences between the two cultures, in the way acting is experienced and storytelling is approached, have shaped the actress you are today? And working with Myyu, do you feel that the two of you, with your different personalities, experiences, and ways of seeing things, have influenced each other and changed the way you approach acting?
CHANYA: I think growing up in both Thailand and France has given me different perspectives on how people communicate and express their feelings. I don't consciously separate those influences when I act, but they're part of my experiences and how I understand people. It reminds me that someone can react differently from me and still feel the same emotion. In a scary situation, some people may be quietly afraid, while others might scream. It's the same emotion, just expressed differently.
With Myyu, we bring our own personalities and experiences to a scene. I appreciate how cheerful and hardworking she is. That has really encouraged me on days when I've doubted my own performance or felt unsure about a scene.Myyu, last year, with the release of Insomnia, you turned the night, and the thoughts that come with it, into a deeply personal musical project. If you were to imagine this EP as a nocturnal journey you were taking together, which track would you choose as the soundtrack to your journey, and what moment of the night do you think would best capture the relationship between you and Chanya? And how much do you think your experience as an actress has influenced the way you make music, especially when it comes to expressing emotions, using your voice, or allowing yourself to be more vulnerable?
MYYU: If I had to choose a time of night, I think it would be after midnight. It's when everything becomes quieter, and you tend to see a more real side of people. I think our relationship is a little like that - the more time we spend together, the more we get to know sides of each other that other people might not see.
Acting has made me more comfortable with letting emotions be imperfect or not always beautiful. Before, as a singer, I might have focused first on singing well or making everything sound perfect. But acting taught me to focus more on, "What is this character - or this person - feeling right now?". Sometimes a cracked voice, a breath, or something imperfect can actually make the emotion feel more real.Let's talk about The A Festival. When you first found out that you'd be coming to Europe together, what was your reaction? And, Chanya, what typical French thing would you like Myyu to try first on this trip to Paris?
MYYU: I was really excited because this is the first time we'll be traveling together to meet fans in Europe. It also feels like AI Girl has taken us much further than I ever imagined. I also want to see Paris through Chanya's eyes, because I think this place probably means something very different to her than it does to me.
CHANYA: I felt really happy and a little emotional. It's been about eight years since I last came back to France, so returning for work and meeting our fans feels special. I'm grateful that I get to share that experience with Myyu.
Maybe I'd take her to a bakery and let her try different pastries!
For our brand question, which is based by the name of our site, Outsider. We view that as being out of the ordinary and unique in the best way possible. What do you think can make you an outsider in life and as artists?
MYYU: For me, being an Outsider means not forcing myself to fit into just one box. I'm a singer, songwriter, performer, and actress, and all of those sides are part of who I am. I don't think I have to choose just one thing or limit myself to a single identity. I want to give myself the freedom to explore different sides of who I am and keep discovering what I'm capable of. As long as I stay true to myself and have the courage to pursue what I really want to do, I think that's what makes me unique.
CHANYA: I think it's the combination of things that makes each of us who we are - our background, personality, interests, and the way we see the world. For me, having a quieter, more introverted side, but also a little bit of craziness, is part of that. An unexpected combination, I guess!
As an artist, I want to keep exploring and bring my own sensitivity to what I do. I don't think you have to force yourself to be different, but you can explore different parts of yourself. I also like the idea that we don't all have to bloom in the same way or at the same time.A big thank you to MYYU and CHANYA for taking the time to chat with us and share a little piece of their world with us!
Don't forget to follow them on their social media to keep up with all their latest projects!
As always, thank you for joining us, and stay tuned for more interviews, news, and stories from the world of entertainment!
See you next time, Outsiders!

Ciao, Outsiders!
Parliamo di The A Festival.
