Oltre i riflettori: il nuovo capitolo degli 8TURN

 English Version

Hi Outsiders!

Today we're back with an interview that will take us across the ocean once again, this time with a band from South Korea.

Following BRUISE, released in January 2026, the group returns with [8.X: NO LINE, NO TRACE], a project about new beginnings, freedom, and the desire to go beyond what is already familiar. This time, however, it's not simply about adding a new genre or a new shade to their music: the goal is to erase the lines that have already been drawn and discover what lies beyond them.

Representing this new journey is Stagefright, an R&B/Pop title track that explores the intense and sometimes complicated relationship between an artist and the stage. Behind the lights and the energy of the performance lie more intimate emotions: desire, the fear of losing what you love, and, despite everything, the choice to keep pursuing it. YUN GYU, JAE YUN, and MYUNG HO also took part in writing the song, giving voice to even more personal emotions.

With us...8 TURN!

As always, let's give them a warm welcome and enjoy the interview.

Now that your "Stagefright" promotions have come to an end, what is the biggest lesson each
of you is taking away from this comeback?

JAE YUN: This comeback in and of itself represented a massive step forward for us musically. While
we've explored various genres prior to 'Stagefright', the Y2K R&B concept was completely outside our
usual comfort zone. Looking back, I can confidently say we not only executed it well, but also infused
it with 8TURN's unique identity. This promotional period taught us so much about our capabilities and
showed us where our future music can go.

MIN HO: I've learned how to simply enjoy the promotions without any regrets. Before this, I would
always feel a little sad when the promotions came to an end, but this time, for the first time, I didn't
feel that way at all.

Looking back, was there a particular performance or moment during the promotions that you'll always remember? What made it so special?

MIN HO: For our final music show performance of this promotion, we wanted to make the stage feel a little more special, so we performed with hand mics. And seeing our fans like it made me really happy and proud.

HAE MIN: First of all, this comeback was a valuable experience for us to show a new side of ourselves and prove that we can pull off a different style of music. Taking on this genre and making it our own also helped us grow a lot as artists. We also performed on many stages with different concepts and setups during this promotion, and I think those performances will stay with me for a long time.

The song explores the paradox of loving the stage while still feeling nervous before stepping onto it. How closely does that reflect to your real experiences as performers?

MYUNG HO: Whenever I'm on stage, I feel both excited and nervous. I really love performing, but
because I want to do well on stage, I also sense some fear growing inside me. And that's why I could
relate to the contradictory emotion in 'Stagefright'. In the end, I think that nervousness comes from how the stage means to me.

JAE YUN: I think this song reflects who we are in a really honest and transparent way. Although we
love nothing more than performing on stage, there's always that underlying fear of losing this moment and knowing that, one day, it’ll come to an end. While that might sound a bit heavy, for me, that realization serves as a powerful motivation to keep pushing our limits and live fully in the present
without any regrets.

During this comeback, did any member surprise you with their growth or dedication? What stood out?

MYUNG HO: Yun Gyu worked on the rap and also participated in writing the lyrics for both songs, which really showed how well he understood the concept and mood of each track. And I was especially impressed by how well he brought them to life on stage.

YOON SUNG: Myung Ho takes the lead on the intro for both the song and the performance, and if you watch our stages, he changes up his gestures every time. I thought it was really cool how he made each intro feel different, so that really stood out to me.

Which part of the choreography or performance do you think best captures the emotions behind "Stagefright"?

YUN GYU: I think the choreography during the "Little little little, just a little", where our fingers crawl up over our heads, captures the emotion best. To me, it feels like fear slowly taking over and I think that really brings out the feeling behind the song.

SEUNG HEON: Personally, the choreography in the second chorus comes to mind. It's the part where we walk forward while kicking our legs up high. Even though the song literally means 'stage fright', I think that part really represents us pushing past our fear and moving forward.

With your Europe and U.S. tours coming up, what are you most excited to experience with international fans? And how the "Stagefright" promotions and growth through this comeback has influenced the way you're preparing for the upcoming tour?

MIN HO: I think I've really learned how to connect with our fans and share our energy with them on stage. I've also learned how to let loose and have more fun while performing.

YOON SUNG: What I look forward to the most is having fun with TURNINGs on stage! Last year, the
fans had even more energy than we expected, so we've been working hard on performances that can bring that energy out even more. And while preparing for 'Stagefright', we were able to explore a wider range of sounds and styles through our music. I think this tour will be a great chance for TURNINGs to experience many different sides of 8TURN!

During 8TURN's 1st World Tour "8TURNRISE", you had the opportunity to perform across the U.S. and Europe for international fans who are eager to see you again. Should we expect any new special performances in the upcoming tour? What kind of experience are you preparing for your fans this time?

HAE MIN: I think TURNINGs will get to feel the full energy that 8TURN is known for! First, our setlist is longer this time, which means we'll get to spend more time together and enjoy a wider variety of music. We've also prepared plenty of fan favorites, including tracks that TURNINGs voted for and wanted to hear. I hope you're all looking forward to it!

SEUNG HEON: Since this is our second tour, we thought of our first one and prepared a new set of
songs that we think our international TURNINGs would really enjoy. They're all full of energy, making them great to sing along to and have fun with, so if you come to the show, I'm sure you'll have an amazing time with no regrets.

The contrast between "BRUISE" and "Stagefright" perfectly showcases 8TURN's versatility and your ability to pull off different musical styles while staying true to your unique artistic identity. While preparing for these two comebacks, what were the most interesting factors for your growth as artists? Which part of the creative process did you enjoy the most?

JAE YUN: Since the two songs contrast so much sonically, the recording process was definitely the most challenging, yet fun part of it all. 'Bruise' called for this deep sense of yearning throughout the track, whereas 'Stagefright' required a subtle sadness that wasn't overly intense, combined with a slightly laid-back vibe, which was pretty tricky to nail down at first. For me, recording is always the most challenging but rewarding part of the process, because once it's done, I can finally fully connect with the album's overall vision and concept which helps a lot with the later production such as choreo and music video, etc.

YUN GYU: Compared to 'BRUISE', this comeback has a more mature and refined vibe, so I gave more consideration to both the visual and performance. I went for longer hair, more fitted outfits, and I even lost about 11 lbs more than I did for "BRUISE" to create a slightly darker, more alluring look.
Also, when I dance, I usually like using big, powerful movements, but for this song, I focused more on
relaxing my movements and making everything flow smoothly. I'm very satisfied with how all those details came together on stage.

8TURN has recently undergone changes in both its musical direction and overall identity as a group. What led to these changes?

JAE YUN: Since our debut, we have built our identity around hip-hop and the key ideas of "Young
Power" and "Energy". As we continued our journey, we began thinking about how we should grow as artists in order to become a group that can be loved for a long time. In that process, we realized that we had naturally matured. We are not only bright and energetic, but now also carry more realistic emotions such as anxiety and uncertainty. We felt that those sides of us are also an important part of who 8TURN is today. At the same time, the members' vocals and ability to express emotions have also developed greater depth.

MYUNG HO: As we became capable of expressing a much wider range of genres and emotions than
before, we naturally began thinking about what kind of music could show us as honestly as possible.
We came to the conclusion that the best answer was to capture who we are right now, just as we are.
We felt that music with a darker, more subdued mood - along with songs that highlight each member's unique vocal color and tell stories about how we are growing as individuals - would be the best way to show who 8TURN is today. I see the discography from "Electric Heart" and "BRUISE" to "Stagefright" not as a change in our original identity, but as a natural musical evolution that reflects our growth and who we are today.

The idea of following a path with no set trajectory, unsure of what awaits, can often feel scary and uncertain. How does being a team help you keep going and face difficult times along the way? What is the one emotion that brings you all together and allows you to face the unknown with less fear?

YOON SUNG: Stage and TURNINGS, for sure. Of course, there are times when things get difficult and we struggle as a group. But once we're on stage, interacting with our fans and enjoying the performance together help those things fade away naturally. And being on stage together reminds me that everything we do is something we build as a team, which also makes me appreciate the members all over again.

SEUNG HEON: I would say the members. Walking down an uncertain path is exciting but also, can be scary. Because we're a team, the fact that I’m not alone is probably what gives me the most strength. Even when I fall apart sometimes, knowing that I have my members beside me helps me get back up. And I've learned so many times that even things that seem impossible can become possible when we're together. That's why the members are the people I rely on the most.
TURNINGs are just as much of a driving force for me as well. Especially during this promotion, I realized that without the people who believe in me and support me, I wouldn't have the confidence or even find a reason to keep doing all of this.
Members give me the strength to keep myself together and TURNINGs give me a reason to keep
moving forward. Right now, they are the most precious people in my life.

8TURN members YUN GYU, JAE YUN and MYUNG HO took part in writing the lyrics for the new single, where both "Stagefright" and "8PM" explore contrasting themes and paradoxes.
How did you dive into opposite atmospheres and emotions during the creative process, and
which side feels closer to you now?

JAE YUN: People might think that diving into two contrasting themes at the same time is tricky, but for me, it actually wasn't as hard as you'd expect. Having a strong personal connection to both song themes made it much easier to jump back and forth between them. I habitually record my daily emotions and reflections in my notes app, so whenever I'm writing, I can revisit those raw thoughts to immediately immerse myself in the right emotional space.

YUN GYU: When writing 'Stagefright', I drew more from the anxiety and fear within me, while with '8PM', I wanted to bring out a chill and confident vibe. I'd say "Stagefright" feels more like me.
Because the song is about being on stage, I put a lot of my own thoughts and emotions into the lyrics.

What do you think makes you outsiders - in the best sense of the word - and what makes you
stand out as unique, both as artists and in your everyday lives?

MYUNG HO: I'm the type of person who likes to do things my own way rather than simply following others. I think that naturally gives me my own style and identity. On stage, that comes through in the way I perform and express myself. Off stage, I'm usually curious about new things and enjoy trying them out. I think that's what makes me unique.

HAE MIN: I think the one thing that makes me unique is that I always try to find something positive,
even when things get tough. That mindset naturally comes through in the way I act, and hopefully it
gives our fans a little encouragement as well. I also tend to stay pretty steady without too many ups
and downs in everyday life, and that consistency is a big part of who I am.

And with that, our interview comes to an end. We would like to thank 8TURN for taking the time to speak with us, as well as their entire staff for their availability and support.

If you haven't already, we encourage you to listen to their latest comeback and make sure you don't miss the opportunity to see them live during their European tour!

Ciao, Outsiders!

Ecco perché mi sono riuscito a connettere all'emozione contraddittoria descritta in ‘Stagefright'.

SEUNG HEON: Direi i miei compagni.
