As a polyglot artist, you're able to write and perform your songs in different languages, connecting a wide and varied audience through music. How do you choose the language that best suits each song and how does this choice influence your creative process?

I think every language has its own rhythm, personality, and emotion. Sometimes a melody naturally sounds better in French, Spanish, Korean, or English, so I usually let the music guide my decision. I love how switching languages can completely change the mood of a song, even when you're expressing the same feeling.

Music, fashion, travels and Asian culture come together in Sunny Lukas' unique world: what role does each of these elements play in shaping your artistic identity?

I see all of these as different forms of self expression. Music is the foundation of everything I do, fashion helps me translate that sound into a visual identity, and traveling constantly introduces me to new perspectives. My Asian roots will always be part of who I am, but I love combining those influences with everything I discover around the world.

One of your most recent releases is "Laissez-moi Faire", a track almost entirely in French whose melodies evoke the romantic atmosphere of Paris. Does writing in French allow you to express feelings or sides of yourself that would be difficult to convey in another language? Where does your connection with European culture come from?

There's something incredibly romantic and effortless about the French language. When I wrote "Laissez-moi Faire", I wanted to capture a certain feeling of freedom, intimacy, and spontaneity that I felt French expressed beautifully. I've always been drawn to European culture, especially its music, cinema, architecture, and fashion. I think those influences naturally find their way into my songwriting.

If you could describe your music and style with a single emotion, which one would you choose?

Freedom. I never want to feel restricted by one genre, language, or cultural identity. My music is about exploring different sides of myself, taking creative risks, and expressing whatever feels authentic in the moment.

"The Next Stage" has been a very important chapter of your career: it gave you the opportunity to work with established artists in the Asian entertainment industry and to challenge yourself by sharing your story with the audience. How much and in what ways do you think you have grown as an artist since taking part in this survival show?

"The Next Stage" was definitely a turning point in my career. Being surrounded by so many talented artists and receiving guidance from established musicians pushed me to grow both creatively and personally. Since then, I've become much more confident in my identity as an artist, especially when it comes to developing my own sound, producing my music, and building an independent career internationally.

You said that when you arrive in a new country, you first observe the surroundings and then the small details. Is there a place that has profoundly changed the way you see the world? If you had to turn a European city into a song, which one would you choose, and why?

Living in different cities has taught me that the smallest cultural details often leave the biggest impressions. Seoul has particularly changed the way I approach creativity because of how seamlessly tradition and modern culture coexist. If I could turn a European city into a song, I'd choose Paris. I'd imagine something cinematic and nostalgic, blending warm jazz chords, French R&B, and a late-night atmosphere.

You've said that some films about the lives of artists taught you how difficult it is to achieve success. What is the most important lesson you learned from watching them? And if you could turn one of these films into your own album, which one would you choose?

The biggest lesson I've learned is that talent alone isn't enough. Behind every successful artist are years of discipline, sacrifice, and moments of uncertainty that people rarely see. If I could turn one film into an album, I'd choose Whiplash. I'd explore that tension between ambition and obsession, but reinterpret it through R&B, jazz, and modern pop.

Fashion and your unique style are a big part of your identity and artistic journey. If you had to create a piece of clothing inspired exclusively by your music, what would it look like?

I'd probably design a statement leather jacket that combines vintage 2000s silhouettes with modern luxury tailoring. Something with subtle nautical details, unexpected textures, and a timeless feel. I think that represents my music pretty well: nostalgic at its core, but always looking towards the future.

As we've seen, you've planned new experiences in Europe. What can your European fans look forward to?

Europe is definitely a place where I want to continue building deeper connections. I've really enjoyed performing here, especially in Germany, and I'm excited to explore more cities, collaborate with European artists, and bring my music to new audiences. Fans can expect more live performances, new music, and hopefully some unexpected collaborations.

Looking ahead, what new sides of your creativity do you hope to share through your future projects?

I'm currently working on my album "VOYAGE", which represents a lot of my experiences traveling, discovering new cultures, and growing as an artist. I want to push myself further, not just musically, but also through visuals, storytelling, fashion, and live performance. Ultimately, I want every project to feel like a new chapter while still being unmistakably me.

Musica, moda, viaggi e cultura asiatica

Come abbiamo visto, stai preparando nuove esperienze in Europa.
